Publication 1075 is part of the IRS’ Safeguard Program, which provides guidance to ensure federal, local and state agencies, as well as agents and contractors, properly protect federal tax information received. The document addresses the managerial, operational and technical security controls that must be implemented, and a revised version became effective on Jan. 1, 2014.
Baird has more than 18 years of experience, specializing in establishing and maturing information security programs and managing secure IT operations in both the private and public sectors. Baird is on the advisory board for the Atlanta SecureWorld Expo, and for more than eight years has participated annually on panels at the event, either as a participant or moderator. He is a recognized industry speaker and author, contributing to several industry trade publications and journals.
The WSATA Conference, organized by the Western States Association of Tax administrators, will take place Sept. 7-10, 2014. The event will bring together professionals to cover topics including uniform and equitable laws, rules, procedures and documentation dealing with the treatment of taxable and nontaxable transactions, and the exchange of information among caucus members.
